M1 Mac Minis are now available on cloud-based CI/CD providers. The build speeds are blazing fast compared to the Intel machines, but it may not be that straightforward to just switch to the new instance type. What are the benefits you will get and the concerns you should consider when switching to M1 Mac Minis in your CI/CD tools and what does it take to transition to the new architecture? This can be challenging for several reasons starting from the Macs that your team is using and ending with different behavior of UI tests, for example. Apple started to roll out the new chips in 2020 and with the two-year transition coming to an end, it is time to move past Rosetta and optimize our projects to run natively on Apple Silicon.
